Want to learn modern calligraphy but don't know where to start?
You've come to the right place! Say hello to the Written Word 3-Day Write Slowly Challenge ;)
You heard that right - we're going to learn to write slowly - because calligraphy writes about 10-15 times more slowly than handwriting, but it's filled with more intention and creativity, something we all need as we welcome 2025. Through this 3-day challenge, my goal is to help kickstart your journey in calligraphy and help you write your WORD OF THE YEAR in calligraphy.
Here's the breakdown:
- Day 1: What is modern calligraphy and the tools you need
- Day 2: Basic techniques and strokes for writing in calligraphy
- Day 3: Writing your word of the year
Get Started Today!
Don’t wait to discover your new passion — join the challenge now and I'll also write your word of the year for you in calligraphy so you have some inspiration to go from. Our live sessions have ended, but you can watch our recordings!

Meet Your Teacher
Hi there! I'm Karla Lim a modern calligrapher, designer, and calligraphy educator of 12 years.
Since 2012, I have helped thousands of students find their love for calligraphy and I'm excited to help you do the same. Honestly, I'm so grateful to have found calligraphy. It's a beautiful and meaningful invitation to slow down, and in many ways it has been so healing and therapeutic for me, especially when I am struggling with anxiety. I hope I can bring you the joy that calligraphy makes for me to you.
